If you have a furry friend, you know that Austin has a lot of options for you (and Rover) to have a little fun. While bigger parks, like Zilker and Auditorium Shores , might get a lot of attention, there plenty of parks all over the city for you to choose from. From near-complete freedom to a quiet, fenced-in time, here are our top picks for Austin Dog Parks you need to try!

5. Red Bud Isle
3401 Red Bud Trail
  • Off-leash

  • 13 acres

  • ½ mile easy walking trail

Red Bud Isle is a perfect place for dogs who want to roam free! On all sides but one, Red Bud Isle is bordered by lakes, rivers, and other natural barriers so that your dog can be off-leash for the adventure without straying too far.
There are also lots of recreation options for humans, such as canoeing, kayaking, and fishing, as well.
Recommended for:
Hounds, retrievers, and other adventurous breeds.
Not recommended for:
Small dogs, as they may get caught in currents when swimming.

4. West Austin Park
1317 West 10th St.
  • Off-leash

  • Fenced

West Austin Park’s Dog Park area is an easy fix for Fido on days when he’s tired of the leash. The park is small, so the humans can take a seat and enjoy the day, and let your dog run a little wild – but not too wild.
Recommended for:
Older dogs, apartment dogs.
Not recommended for:
Extremely active dogs.

3. Austin K9 Agility Training Club
11101 Slaughter Creek Dr.
  • Off-leash

  • Training courses

  • Indoor/Outdoor

K9 offers agility training classes from beginner training to advanced – with all kinds of courses for your dog to run; either for fun or to prepare for competitions. While not strictly a dog park, this venue is perfect for owners looking to exercise their dogs and teach them skills while having fun!
Recommended for:
Current and future show dogs, extremely active breeds.
Not recommended for:
Older dogs, puppies too young for training.

2. Round Rock Dog Depot
